Goals for 2010:
Score some master's points for CMS @ NE Grand Prix

Notable achievements/memories/PR’s in your sport:

Lots of great memories not neccessarily the victories, but  the hard fought battles are the one's that stick in my head. Here are a couple of those.

1. Battle at the Millyard 5K Classic in Manchester NH w/ Mike O'Brien and Scott Clark.  I got outkicked by both of them but I ran 15:04 and more importantly it was a break through as far as who I could potentially run with.  It felt like a sprint for all fifteen minutes but I hung in. BTW. Gary Gardner smoked all of us with a 14:45 or so.

2. 2002 @ New Bedford.  1:10.45.  Race was a culmination of a consistent winter of training. I had prepared very well, and had a plan going into winter so it was great to see the results. One of those few races that everything just went very well.  Conservative on the start and just started picking people off at three miles and never got passed.

List one thing others may not know about you:
Enjoy reading about American History

Your favorite workout:
4 mile tempo run or 6 x 1600 @ tempo w/ 1 minute rest.
5x1200 @ Interval pace isn't so bad either

Your favorite race(s) and why?
Any race with a good post race celebration because it give people a reason to hang out after the race instead of jumping in the cars and taking off.

Notable achievements/memories/PR’s in your sport:
Placing top 10 at the 2008 Triathlon Pan American Championships in Mazatlan Mexico.

List one thing others may not know about you:
I started competing as swimmer before I competed as a runner

Your favorite workout:
Triathletes often do what's called a brick session, which is essentially a hard ride/run workout, transitioning directly from bike to run. When I lived out in Colorado we would hammer ourselves on the bike around an industrial park loop for 6x 1.5 miles laps, then do a 1.3 mile all out run. Then 4 laps on the bike, 1 lap on the run. 2 laps on the bike, 1 lap on the run. Total time would run around 1 1/2 hours of severe hurt.

Your favorite race(s) and why?
Running Mayor's cup and NE 10k Champs down at Franklin Park brings back a lot of good college memories.

Goals for 2010:
Contribute in some way in at least one CMS targeted race.  Given my current physical condition this may end up being holding someone's bag at Mt. Washington.

Notable achievements/memories/PR’s in your sport:
1:08:45 at Mt. Washington in 1991

List one thing others may not know about you:
I once was able to run respectably.

Your favorite workout:
My favorite workout even though I could never do it: 105 x 400 @ ~73sec/400 with no rest (aka a marathon in 2:08) Juma Ikangaa did that workout 3 times back in 1988 and the best he got was 2nd place.  In 1988 I was typically doing speedwork at the same pace only doing 12 x 400 with 200 rest.

Your favorite race(s) and why?
My high school alumni race because it is the one place where I can see a lot of folks who used to be good that I can still beat.

I'm 2-0 against Ribby the Keene Swampbat in mascot races (see photo), 2006 age group snowshoe national champion, I'm an identical twin.

Favorite workout:
10-13 mile trail tempo run, 8 x 400m

Favorite race(s) and why?
Pisgah 50k, Lil Rhody Run Around, Escarpment, 7 Sisters, and the mile:  I love trail races and the first two are my home courses (my parents live in RI, i train there when I visit them), the next two races are ridiculously hard and beautiful,  and the mile is fast and furious and hurts the whole time.

Track, road,  cross country

HS/College:
NRHS (Narragansett Regional High School) - Templeton, MA.  /  College - Western New England College - Springfield, MA.

CMS MORT/Masters Racing Team member since:
1981-1997, 2008-present

City/state of residence:
Templeton, MA

Occupation:
Financial Analyst

Goals for 2010:
To get healthy - it's been awhile.  Beyond that, to gradually get back into the racing scene and possibly set some age group records.

Notable achievements/memories/PR’s in your sport:
Undefeated in Cross-Country competition (1977-1979), 10K age-group record at age 16 (31:45) - broken many times by much faster runners since those dark ages.  1st Vermont finisher at Boston in 1988.  National champion in the 1500m and 3000m at the National Masters Track & Field Championships in Columbus, OH (1992), National Meet record in the 3000m in that same race (later broken by Craig Fram).  3rd New England Finisher at US World Cross-Country Trials behind Gary Giffen and Eric Morse in Tennessee (1994).  Led field of 6000+ runners in the 1995 Philadelphia Distance Classic through the first mile in 4:31 (what was I thinking)?  The race was won in 1:00:55 in a downpour (I faded to 48th overall).

PR's:
800m - 1:57.5  ; 1500m - 3:53.35; 1200m - 3:01 (relay); road mile - 4:03 (Downhill); 5 miles - 23:53 ; 30K - 1:41:49 (Stu's)

List one thing others may not know about you:
I play a mean saxophone (I'm no Clarence Clemons by I can hold my own).

Your favorite workout:
When I was training hard, many eons ago my favorite workout was simply running negative splits (i.e. 6:30, 6:20, 6:10, 6:00, 5:50, 5:40, 5:30, 5:20, 5:10, 5:00)  - 57:30 never felt so hard.

Your favorite race(s) and why?
Stu's 30K - it's long enough to test your strength but not so long where you can't get away with running less than 40 miles per week and still run well.  Any cross-country race - it has a way of telling you you're not as conditioned as you thought you were.

Goals for 2010:
Get in at least one PR.
Bag (DD word) a marathon in a state where I haven't run one before.

Notable achievements/memories/PR’s in your sport:
1500 - 4:05.9
1 mile - 4:28
3000 - 8:56
5000 - 15:51

Two notable achievements:
1.  Running a four second PR in the 1500 in the last college race of my career.
2.  Going sub 2:40 at the Clarence DeMar Marathon in 2009.

List one thing others may not know about you:
I wrote a short novel (unpublished) about running and am in the process of writing a second.
If I have a planned workout, I don't think that running on the treadmill is that bad!

Your favorite workout:
weekend long runs
repeat miles

Your favorite race(s) and why?
The one I'm training for at the moment.  Similar to what Brady says, "My favorite ring is the next one,"  although I'm not Tom Brady and I've never won a ring for my running.
