CMS men win the USATF New England Trail Championship

The CMS men’s team won the USATF New England Trail Championship, Run With The Beavers 10 Mile Trail Race, on Saturday with Scott Mindel (2nd), Chris Mahoney (5th), and Matt Veiga (6th) scoring for the Central Mass Striders. WTAC and Cambridge Running Club placed 2^nd and 3^rd in the open team competition.  There were 12 scoring teams that could include men and women.

The 5 mile loop within Pulaski Park in Chepchet, RI was run twice for the championship event which had 176 finishers. CMS had 16 finishers overall (12 men, 4 women).

Scott Mindel placed 2^nd in the 0-39 age group. Chris Mahoney, Todd Callaghan, and Steve Brightman placed 2^nd, 3^rd, and 4^th in the 40-49 age group, and Tim Van Orden, Dave Dunham and Paul Young placed 1^st, 2^nd, and 5^th in the 50-59 age group.

CMS wins New England Trail Chamionship

The Central Mass Striders men's team won the New England Trail Championship in Exeter, NH. The race featured almost 10 miles of single track trail featuring planks, boardwalks, and tunnels. When the dust settled, Tim Van Orden would finish 2nd overall and top master runner. Scott Mindel was close behind for 3rd overall. Todd Callaghan was the 2nd master runner of the day with a 5th place finish. Scott Leslie would finish 9th, James Pawlicki 10th, Ed Sheldon 22nd, and Paul Bazanchuk would finish 2nd in his age group.

CMS takes wins at USATF New England Trail Championships

CMS had winning teams at the USATF New England Trail Championships hosted by the Merrimack River Trail Race (Andover, MA) on Saturday morning. The Men's Open team led by new member and overall winner, Colin Carroll, placed 1st with Kevin Tilton, Scott Leslie, Chris Mahoney, and Matthew Veiga.

The women's open team won with Leslie O'Dell, Regina Loiacano (1st 40+), and Jenn Brooks.

The men's masters team (40+) won (Todd Callaghan, Jim Pawlicki, John Gillis) while the Senior team (50+) of John Gillis, David Lapierre and Dave Dunham were second to Team Gloucester. Jim and Todd were 2nd and 3rd in the 40+ age group while John Gillis was 2nd in the 50+ age group. Patrick Rich, Dan Verrington, and Jerry Grove also represented CMS on the out and back style trail along the Merrimack River.
