Weekend Results - 02/07/10

As February begins to roll along, there was a little road and snowshoe action this weekend as some Striders ventured out west to Dave Dunham's Northfield Mountain Snowshoe Race and down east to Lynn , MA for the 36th Annual Stew Chase 15k.  Mother Nature cooperated just enough for DD to hold his snowshoe race over a slightly modified course up at Northfield Mountain, and the sun shined bright for 4 more Striders out in Lynn, MA as they all placed in the top 7 overall.  Tim VanOrden got his first snowshoe win of the season, although he has been having a season for the ages already, having placed in the top 2 or 3 in most of the races he's run so far... It's about time Tim! :)

Three weeks left until the first USATF-NE Road Grand Prix starts up again for 2010.  If your're a CMS MORT member and you plan on running DH Jones 10 Miler out in Amherst, MA, (and have not responded to the emails regarding who's going) contact either myself, Jim Pawlicki, or Al Bernier ASAP.

A quick announcement, as the lack of snow continues to wreak havoc on local area snowshoe events (Exeter being postponed this weekend), the planned race at Atkinson Country Club this weekend (Sunday, 14th), Frosty's Dash, will most likely be a trail walk/run instead of a snowshoe race.  Chris Dunn (acidotic) will be updating me as the week goes along and as he hears from the Frosty's organizers, but right not it doesn't look good.  I ran by there today and it was 50% snow and 50% open grass.  We may be getting some snow on Wednesday, but who knows if it will be enough to allow for an official snowshoe race.  Mike Amarello from 3CRaceProductions has also expressed a potential reworking of the Horse Hill course (set for Saturday, 13th).  He may be able to utilize some of the trails and may lose part or most of the hill.  More to come on that.  Of course, a good snowfall on Wednesday could help, but we can't hold our breath....

And last but certainly not least... Mike Quintal (who's blog should be going public very soon) wanted to make sure that he got credit for the below breaking the cardinal sin of posting a 'hey what about my results...' in the comments field of the blog that I voluntarily update each week... By taking in emails/IMs from team members who are gracious enough to tell me when /where they run and also some of my own cyber sleuthing on CoolRunning/Facebook/blogs/etc....needless to say I missed the Fudgcicle Series...sorry Mike!  It would be a lot easier for me to catch this next time if you start a blog!  You are certainly racing and winning enough races now that it would be worthwhile!

  1. You know my email right? Also, I've requested bios from everyone as well as dished out an open invitation to the entire MORT community regarding being added to this blog so they can post/edit content. I haven't received anything back from the younger Quintal on either front. Do you need another copy of that memo? ;)
