CMS Mt Washington
CMS continued it’s dominance of the Mount Washington road race with team victories in the Open, Masters, and Women’s competition. CMS has fielded a team the last 20 years and has only lost once (to the BAA in 2008). CMS owns 17 of the top 20 team times at Mt Washington. This year the open team beat Whirlaway by 16:03 and the master’s team beat the White Mountain Milers by over 70 MINUTES. The master’s team time was good enough to place only behind CMS and Whirlaway in the OPEN. The women’s team topped the Cambridge Running Club by 6:10.
Peter Maksimow led the way for the open men with a 6th place overall finish in 1:04:45. The club placed 11 runners in the top 27. Francis Burdett led the masters team with an 11th place overall (and 2nd in the 40+) in 1:07:09. The masters placed their first five runners in the top nine 40+. The women were led by Abby Mahoney who placed 13th in 1:25:02.
Some stats from the race…
Francis Burdett set an age 46 record; his 1:07:09 broke Len Hall’s 1:11:40 from 1999. Dave Dunham broke the age 47 record; his 1:09:11 broke Andy Ames 1:09:33 from 2010. Dave also became the second oldest person to break 1:10, trailing only Craig Fram (who broke 1:10 again this year at age 52!).
Francis was the top finisher from Massachusetts and Tim Van Orden was the top finisher from Vermont.
